제3의 병원 - The Third Hospital [spoilers ahead]

Been sick for a week now, sigh. Oh nice food~ I miss you so.

Anyway, since I am sick, I thought it would be appropriate to review about The Third Hospital! =.=

Unlike other typical hospital shows from Korea, not all episodes have someone in surgery, so you wouldn't be seeing a lot of bloody scenes. Instead the show revolved around the potential and challenges in complementing Western medicines with traditional Korean medicines/oriental medicines.

Now, the two countries (China and Korea) have been fighting about their 'rights' in oriental medicines in reality, so what you see in the show e.g. acupuncture is rather similar to what the Chinese have.

Anyway, so in the show, Oh Ji-ho (in blue) is the oriental doctor, while the other 2 in white are neurosurgeons.

While the show started off with a good intention to promote the use of oriental medicine, I personally think that they are overdoing it. In many initial scenes, it felt like oriental medicine is something magic, fixing something Western science couldn't, in a matter of minutes. This is rather misleading, but then again, yea it's a drama.

But wait, it got even worse! Things like breaching protocols, cancer cells regressing in matter of months started to happen. Boy, if I have cancer I really would love to live in that show.

The ending was perhaps the most ridiculous - doing an open surgery on the brain, in someone's house, just to show how Western and oriental doctors worked together. Mega facepalm.

The only reason why I was able to finish the show was because of my fascination of how ridiculous it can get lol. It's not a bad show - if you can get over all the absurd, illogical treatments.
Oh! This was also SNSD's Sooyoung's virgin show. I thought she acted rather well for her first time. Her smile was really infectious as well.

I leave you to decide if you want to watch it :P
In the meantime, enjoy Sooyoung's voice :D
