Taiwan Day 2: Off we go to the zoo

2:23 AM

Zoos are probably the last place I would go when I go travelling since I can see majority of the animals in the Singapore Zoo if I want to. It's not like the polar bear looks any different in Taiwan or Malaysia and Koala bears looks the same whether is it in Australia or not.
Importantly, let's not kid ourselves.
We go zoos to take photo. It's not like we read the signs and remember that this animals only eat fish or that animal sleeps 10hours a day.

But. Taipei Zoo was an exception.
The zoo is located at a base of a mountain which also means, the mountain(s) are also tourist attraction.
What's even more fascinating is the fact that the cable cars that we take up to the mountains are part of the public transport system.

Known as the Maokong Gondola, it travels from Taipei Zoo Station to obviously the Maokong Station at the cost of... TWD50 (SGD2) (about a half hour ride up). Comparatively, a stupid ride on Singapore's Cable Care cost SGD26.
Because it is traveling up the mountain, you don't stupid go and choose a day with heavy thunderstorm to go ok? I doubt they will allow rides up anyway.

And oh, Taiwan is such a kind country that kids (TW kids only I think) can go to the zoo for free on Children's Day. That's what family life is about okay, it's not just throwing money in our face and make us give birth, it's to show that you care (or at least pretend to)
Apologies, this day trip brought up a lot of angst, the TW government have really done a great job here and it made me a little upset about situations back home. TSK.

here's the map. We skipped Zhinan Temple Station because... I don't want to see temples?

because I wouldn't be able to take a picture outside of the cable car in air lol.

There were two queues. One for the glass-bottomed cable cars and the normal cable cars.
OF COURSE WE CHOOSE THE MORE EXCITING ONE! Cost the same anyway dododo.

Hello metro!

and here we go!

bf acting scared lol

can't imagine living in the mountains.
living right in front of the beach sure, not mountains though.

It was a bit cloudy/hazey :(
We didn't do much at the top of the mountain because by the time we reached it was already lunch time lol. And so we ate!

TWD 300 for mains, bread, soup, drink
TAIWAN PLEASE STOP SPOILING ME ;)

Here's the scenery beside us at lunch.
HOW YOU DO THIS IN SINGAPORE WITHOUT SWEATING!?!?

Monkey bf bahahahaha

Hi cat!
Overheard a joke.
Man: we are at Maokong now, why don't you come over?
Maokong has no cat so you don't have to be afraid of cats.
Maokong = 猫空
literal translation: cats empty
i.e. no cats
BAHAHAHAHA.

we decided to go down to the scenic place

this was what we saw.

stupidest decision ever. STEEP STEEP slopes *pants*

Then we descended the mountain to Taipei Zoo South Station.
Entrance fee to the zoo?
TWD60 (TWD30 if you are a youth)
Singapore Zoo? SGD22
Maybe the animals feed on organic food in Singapore *shrugs*
TW Zoo is so huggggeeeeeee that I didn't even have time to say hi to all my fellow friends :(

tram in the zoo is free

no i didn't play music, it got attracted by the camera!

frog emo-ing

because it is the snake's year
attention seeking penguin

these giraffes suddenly peered over while we were walking. Never seen giraffes this upclose before.
very KPO ah

didn't get the chance to go because there isn't enough time!! :( but it's ok, should be the same as our treetop trail)

can't really be bothered to take a decent picture of pandas.
Personally think that they are selfish animals since they like to live in isolation.
Read: wasting resources and space.

no idea why is this here actually lol

because we came in by the south entrance, we exited by the main entrance.
I mean, you can enter and exit by the same entrance, but the place is really huge!!!

Went back to the hotel to take a rest before going out to Shida night market.
It is a pretty small night market

and I only actually got to eat the cheeken before bf fell sick and we have to go back to the hotel.
LE SIGH.
but overall, this was a really fun day because the weather was awesome!

WOULD YOU JUST LOOK AT THE CHEEKEN ONE MORE TIME!
