Taiwan Day 1: A Day Of Lost And Found
We booked our TW trip when Flyscoot first launched the flight to TW back in 2012, so the tickets were rather cheap. $456 for 2, round trip. Finally March 25 2013 came, and off we go to Taiwan :D
I was a little apprehensive, despite my initial nice review about FlyScoot, their services appeared to have deteriorated following the great delay and how they cancelled flights because it was low in capacity (after I came back, they cancelled flights ONE MORE TIME because of maintenance, just so happens their pathetic 4 planes have to undergo maintenance at the same time. From these incidents, I gathered you must be a generally lucky person to take Scoot because you see, they don't care if you need to reschedule your holiday, your HOTEL BOOKING or your connecting flights. Even worse, they give you Scoot credit instead of a full monetary refund.
Yes, you have to be very lucky.
The itinerary is for people who wants to spend 5 days in Taipei (we didn't go anywhere else)
and before you go.. you should check out deals sites and also if there's any exhibitions that you would like to see!

Like Marshmallow and I were. It's Marshmallow's first time on the flight, normally he's stuck in the luggage. Actually after so many hiccups by Scoot, I was damn scared my luggage will get lost, so hence I brought Marshmallow up on the plane.
Day 1 was a day of horror and anger lol, silly me thought I lost my iPhone at T2, so I kinda ran around T2 searching high and low for it (ayeeee you know right, iPhone gone = gone, of course I panicked). Anyways, as it turned out, it was in my bag all along lol. Bf very nearly wanted to slap me.
Anyway, it was a midnight flight and night flights are uncomfortable unless you are in 1st class or something. So we were too tired and did something light for day 1.
Because we reached Taoyuan Intl' Airport too early, we waited till 8+ (to get our SIM card), thank god for their mega awesome everything also have 7-11.
Boarded the bus to Taipei for TWD125, took us about 1.5hr- 2hr. Would suggest that you take the high speed rail (HSR).. it will save you 30-45mins, just that it is more troublesome, still need to take a bus to the HSR station. Since we got time to spare, we took the bus.
Then at some point I realised I lost my friend's camera lens cover on the flight @#%$@#%
Went to their 'sim lim square' to find, naturally they also quoted me a 'sim lim' price.
managed to find it in Kaosiung (oh internet, I love you!) and the lens cover arrived the VERY NEXT DAY (wtf is singpost doing seriously).
Went for Doraemon exhibition after seeing my TW's friend facebook photo.
Actually, I also went to Groupon TW to check out deals (just like i did for Sydney), but nah, nothing much.
We were so lucky, got the ticket for TWD150 instead of TWD220 because some kind Taiwanese sold the tickets to us. And there I was thinking, eh you got scam us not?!
SORRY, I HAVEN'T SWITCHED OVER, I FORGOT TW PEOPLE ARE MUCH KINDER THAN SGeans.
I know you are as confused as me about the exhibition title.
What 100 years before?!
Turns out the Japanese created a movie where Doraemon was manufactured/born in year 2112 and travelled back to Norbita in 2012 (hence 100 years before)
Read the wiki yourself la!
This was how the original Doraemon looked like
Before the mouse went and bit of his ears and his tears turned himself blue.
Wanted to take photo there, but a bit too paiseh, so many people! Some more we weren't able to check into the hotel so early.. no makeup zomg!
Was wondering how much each of these cost, looked so nice to put at home LOL.
MINE MINE MINE
There were so many doraemons, I didn't think I captured all.
Next stop
Went with my sister in 2011, food is not fantastic, but cheap (by SG standard)
TWD 300 for salad, soup, appetiser, main, drinks, dessert. WTF right?
This sucks big time do not order.
Finally we were able to checked into the hotel
CityInn Taipei Branch I, which was able a 5 min walk from the main metro station.
It has quite a number of good reviews on Tripadvisor.
Their smallest room was big enough for the two of us, although I still wished for windows.
Majority of the TW hotels that I stayed in, never had windows for some reason.
Ok that's day one.
Right, I also lost our shopping bag (after buying other things), also thought I lost my 'ez-link' card etc
bf was pretty pissed lol.
