I. have. been. waiting. for. this. to. be. out. since.

LAST YEAR.

And it is finally here in SG!!!

There's a rising trend to rewrite fairytales like Mirror Mirror, Snow White and the Huntsmen and more recently Jack the Giant Slayer. 

What movie am I talking about?

Looks so evil, I like :D

This is like the second adaption (from my perspective) of the story. 

Surely you must remember this musical (and lucky you who attended)!

Didn't have the money to watch the musical and I ended up reading the book instead. 

It basically wrote that the Wicked Witch's death was a mere accident among other things.

But! Back to the movie.

Movie Synopsis 

Disney’s fantastical adventure “Oz The Great and Powerful,” directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved wizard character. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful wizard but into a better man as well. “Oz The Great and Powerful” is produced by Joe Roth, with a screenplay by Mitchell Kapner and David Lindsay-Abaire (credit not final). Grant Curtis, Palak Patel, Philip Steuer and Josh Donen are serving as executive producers.

So if I can remember correctly, the original story was mainly focused on Dorothy's adventures in Oz and her destroying the wicked witch. 

Wicked is obviously a tale about the Wicked Witch and subsequently her kid and grandkid (yes there's like 4 books). 

This show however, focused on the great Oz who is really, an ordinary man from Kanas (the same one whom Dorothy talked to in the original tale) and I guess.. how he eventually destroy the Wicked Witch.   I am really keen to see how this character play the heroic role that originally belonged to Dorothy. And with every adaptation it just bring a whole new angle to the magical land of Oz. Also importantly the lead is James Franco who played Harry Osborn in Spiderman series (whom I liked over Spiderman because he is handsome lol). I got a feeling this literally going to be a great movie experience :D :D
