So last week I walked into a castle.
Ok, it was a very fancy looking hotel - Dorsett Hotel, just five minutes walk from Outram MRT station.

I was here for a food-tasting/application launch at Pappa San! 

The peeps at Pappa San very thoughtfully set up a pre-dinner table for us and it looked really lovely. 

One of the highlights was this watermelon Sangria shots, I didn't get to drink this because I couldn't take alcohol, but the bf mentioned that the alcoholic content wasn't very strong. 

Then there was this beef thingy which I couldn't take as well -,-, but the bf mentioned the beef was tender. 

Ok moving on to things I can eat, chicken wings and salmon! The chicken wings was a little overcooked, but the salmon was okay. No one can go wrong with the salmon, right? 

Prawns with tomato & italian gremolata, Crusted Chicken Rice balls. 

I was pleasantly surprised by the chicken rice balls because, well, I hadn't expected the fillings to be chicken rice. It was innovative trying to mix the two ingredients together, but I was doing too much talking and so my food went a little cold. Would have been nicer if this is fresh out from the kitchen!

The next dish which totally impressed me was the snow mountain baked fish. According to the restaurant, the Italian eat the fish with only olive oil and lemon. They 'singaporised' the dish and added garlic, onion, ginger, chilli, lemongrass to suit the local taste. What you see is the fish being covered by sea salt. It is so that the fish will retain the moisture despite being cooked. 

The fish has a lemon-taste to it (obviously), which was nice and there was no 'fish smell'. I generally hate to eat steamed fish even those which were cooked with tons of ginger, mainly because of the smell. A bonus was the sauce provided by the restaurant and that added some spiciness to the dish.

Then we had the Portuguese Roast Suckling Pig -  I have no idea they eat suckling pig too. The pig was being cut into pieces by.. a plate which was later smashed. That was quite entertaining! While the pork was quite crispy, I was actually more interested in the mantou buns because it tasted sweet.

Le chef came out to cook our desert. You may recognise him as chef Han Seng Fong who is famous for his chicken rice. Anyway, he didn't show us the chicken rice but the mango caramel chocolate lava cake instead. Which was pretty awesome in any case. 

This is my first food-tasting experience, so pardon my limited vocab :( I will try harder next time (if there's a next time lol). Anyway, let's just leave my embarrassing description alone, and move on to the giveaway.
