Italy II: 3 In 1 Ruins

12:46 AM
Sorry for the long hiatus - photos were stored on another computer which was inactive (BULLSHIT EXCUSE LOL)
So in the previous entry, I talked about the free stuff you can do in Rome
I am pretty sure there's loads more free stuff to do, but we decided to do the paid stuff in Day II

So Colosseum, Palatine Hill and The Forum are three ruins in 1 for EUR12 (SGD20+) - this is probably the most worth it because combined together, these 3 places will require you to walk the whole day.

Of course if you are sick of looking at the ruins, then maybe half a day is enough.

The Forum and Palatine Hill are linked together so you need not exit and enter again.

We bought the tickets from the official website: http://www.coopculture.it/en/colosseo-e-shop.cfm

Just print out the ticket and REMEMBER TO BRING IT TO ROME

Is it a must to buy online?
I would say yes, because you will never know how long the queue will be at each of the attractions.
Why waste time queuing when pre-purchase of tickets means instant access?
It still cost EUR12 online or over there so no difference

Of course copy & paste had their fun too!

Personally, I preferred the Forum over Palatine Hill.
Palatine Hill consisted of the Flavian Palace, which was really boring to me.
Also because it was (obviously) on a top of a hill, and most ruins are shorter than you, the sun was no joke man! Even in 'autumn', it really felt like summer.

Not to worry though, there are so many white marbles for you to sit on, your butt will feel cooling instantly :P

People opting for a quick lunch before entering Colosseum.

But after the jumpshots we went for proper lunch instead lol.
I don't really like bread for other meals except breakfast so...

We went to a restaurant which was our favourite (sort of considering we ate like 2 meals there). Again, it was a place near our accommodation.

Tiramisu was awesome (EUR5), although I still miss the one in Perth as well

After our lunch break we went into Colosseum.

Because the Colosseum is separated by roads, so you will have to enter the place with the ticket.
DO NOT LOSE IT OKAY!

This is Paste, preparing to go for a gladiator fight - fully equipped just like that

This would probably be familiar to you if you have watched the show 'Jumper'.
In ancient times, we wouldn't be able to see this as it would have been covered by the 'fighting' platform.
Apparently fights were staged, although 'accidents' do occur sometimes

Copy and Paste were having a cooling time

This was sadly the last photo I took before the battery died.

we were too tired, so we went to a place literally minutes down our street to takeaway food for dinner
it's like a fast food style italian food
and that was the first day we realised if anything was too good to be true, it was indeed too good to be true.
I think the whole meal - lassagna, fries, tiramisu cost about EUR9-11
whereas in a normal restaurant a pasta would cost about EUR9 and above.

Fries were passable, but then again, if you cannot even cook fries properly you might as well shut the whole place.
Sadly, I had a bit of sorethroat so I wasn't able to enjoy the fries.

SUCKY TIRAMISU!! DO NOT BUY FROM HERE

It was also the BF birthday today, I got him some small gift while I was in SG AND YES I BOUGHT IT TO ITALY.
It was quite fun waiting for the clock to strike 12midnight SG time.
I was contemplating when to give him the gift but decided that I should give him as per SG time :D

After dinner, we went and took some night scene at Colosseum.

Really loved the new lens, it made taking night shot so much easier!
