Birthday Adventure! (picture intensive)!
Before I start on my post, I want to say that all these wouldn't have been possibly without nice sellers I have come across on Carousell.
Carousell is this phone platform which allows you to take pictures of the products you want to sell and put it on the app itself and sell. The plus point about this app is that it allows you to upload the products immediately from your phone. I haven't been trying a lot of apps, but till date eBay SG still does not allow you to do that via phone.
I have personally sold and bought some stuff from the platform and find it really connivence despite some bad buyers I came across. Carousell has come a long way since it started, with the founders constantly seeking and listening to feedbacks. So if you have anything you want to sell, why not try Carousell?
After you downloaded the app, be sure to visit
http://carousell.co/popiah
or buy from userid: popiah' okay lol
Ok moving on...

Ok moving on...
so I purchased
1) Sentosa entrance tickets -> lol, save until like this.
Original ticket cost was $4, but I got it for $2.50 each, that's 37.5% discount.

2) USS dining voucher $120 for $65, so that's 45.8% savings!
We went to Adventure Cove because I have some tickets to use.
This is like Fantasy Island when I was a kid, except that the price is probably more expensive.
Fantasy Island closed down after a series of accidents, so it is not unexpected that there are a lot of lifeguards around in Adventure Cove.

This is just one segment of the 'lazy river' - where you get to float around in circles.
There's ONE lifeguard in every 30-50m.
these are some of the stuff we see while cruising through the lazy river
real dolphins!
you have to pay extra to go in.
stingray smiling at me lol
This is the place where you get to touch the stingray - also must pay extra.
#$%$#%$#
Can you spot a stingray here?
*inserts random picture of us :D*
because most of the rides are slides, we could not take any pictures obviously.
There is a place where we could snorkel to see fishes.
I thought I could take photos of the fishes while I snorkel but the waterproof bag + iphone = not a very good combination.
hence the picture turned out blur hahaha. Would be good if you have a waterproof fast speed camera.
These are fishes from the sea, so the water is cold and salty.
here's a nicer picture to compensate!
there were a lot of fishes in the tank!!
Adventure cove does not allow outside food and drinks int the vicinity.
In fact they are so strict about it, they even have bag checks.
We had our lunch $13.90 for this pasta and drinks.
It honestly wasn't fantastic at all, but it was okay we were there to play not eat!
가지마!!! |
ok bye! Let's move on to the dinner!
because it started raining at about 4.30pm, we had some time left before our dinner reservation at 7pm, so we wasted some time at...
with..
oh right! I must mention that my VS tote bag was crazily big!
It allowed me to put in so many crap which was really good because the dinner place we went supposedly required 'smart causal' attire, so I wasn't able to wear 'beach style' stuff to Adventure Cove.
Finally dinner!
We went Starz @ Hard Rock Hotel
It.
Was.
So.
Crappy.
To summarise in 1 sentence:
Starz is food court selection in buffet style.
Selection was poor
Taste was so-so
Best of all, smart causal attire wasn't needed.
Some people came in flipflops -,-
I felt so sorry to my bf, because he actually brought jeans for this =( But is okay! Someone came in formal shirt and that guy went to Adventure Cove too tehehehe.
These were from the 'Western' selection, so there were fries, 2 choices of pasta (the cream one was too bland), this popcorn chicken thingy (too hard), mini burgers which we didn't eat. Only the fries were decent (YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH INSTANT STUFF!!)
Not quite sure if this is the Japanese or seafood section.
Basically you have salmon, tuna, oysters, clams, some sushis and cold soba.
I have never been to a buffet without crabs and prawns before.
Like I said the selection was disappointing.
before moving on to the next disappoint segment, there were also some choices of indian food,
laksa and drunken prawns (have to request), chicken rice and soups.
The laksa was horrible.
Maybe they tried to make it for tourists - the taste deviated so much from the normal laksa in coffeeshops, I actually wondered if I was eating laksa o.0
Desserts- look and taste like bleh.
Except for the gelato.
Maybe they buy it from somewhere else, that's why it actually tasted nice.
Food playing!
Ok honestly, I ate quite a fair bit of salmon because YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH SASHIMI TASTE RIGHT?
Verdict: Starz is not a place you should visit even if you have tons of money. There are celebrities chefs stuff in Resorts World Sentosa, so you are better off spending your money there.
Visit Starz only if it is FREE.
Then again, sell that free thingy to someone else, so that you can actually go somewhere better.
Kushinbo with its price tag can easily beat what Starz can offer (and you don't have to enter Sentosa for Kushinbo).
It's not a place I will ever step in again.
I also want to mention that its toilet, though very dimly-lit, WAS ACTUALLY NICER LOOKING THAN THE RESTAURANT ITSELF.
I mean...
what message is the restaurant trying to bring out?
Thankfully the dinner cost less than $40 per pax thanks to Carousell
Nevertheless, because of my bf's company, the day turned out great :D
Miscellaneous information/tips
Adventure Cove
- you can wear normal clothing to play in the park
- waterproof cameras/phones are allowed in the wave pool, snorkel place and lazy river. I used iPhone 4s in all my Adventure Cove shots
- Queue for each ride is about 20-30minutes ( I went on a weekday), you can purchase additional 'express' ticket to skip the queue but this is really not worth it on a weekday unless you go during school holidays.
- Locker rental is $10 or $20 for the whole day (you can open the locker as many times as you wish)
- Do wear slippers while walking inside the place, there will be places for you to put them while you queue for your rides
- Goggles, spectacles are not allow on rides
Adventure cove can be quite pricey for adults
non peak ticket costs $29, express ticket costs $10
peak ticket costs $33, express ticket costs additional $20
locker costs - $10 (small) or $20 (big) (don't bring too big a bag)
there's also addition cost if you want to have close encounters with stingrays and dolphins
So... my suggestion?
find Adventure cove tickets on Carousell :)
Starz
- For those who refused to listen, dinner cost $55++(sun-thurs), $75++ on other days. .
