The School Series

Just finished watching two Kdrama both related to school.

To The Beautiful You/ For You In Full Blossom

For those who don't know this is adapted from the Japanese comic, Hana Kimi.

There's a Taiwan version too, starring Ella from S.H.E and Wu Zhun from the disbanded Fahrenheit: 花样少年少女

Just a short synopsis

The series centers on Goo Jae-hee (Sulli), a Korean girl who lives in the United States. One day, she sees a track and field competition on TV, and becomes inspired by a gold medalist high jump competitor, Kang Tae-joon (Minho). She begins to idolize the young athlete but Tae Joon suffers an accident that could potentially end his career. Therefore, to see Tae-joon jump again, Jae-hee disguises herself as a boy and attends the same school as Tae-joon.

Sulli from F(x) and Minho from SHINee. Got to like this guy after seeing him act in the show. But the love failed to extend to other SHINee members, sorry!

The rights of the show was acquired by SM Entertainment, hence it is really a show fullllll of idols. Even the OST too with SNSD lending their voices. Not going to delve too much into the plot, I would just like to express my amazement at how beautiful the show is filmed. Since Boys Over Flowers we saw the grandeur of Kdrama. This show while it is not as grand as BOF, the filming, colors/filters used are all really jjang!! Is like every scene can be a photo of its own, taken by DSLR. That's how impressive it was!

If you really want to compare it to the TW version, well. Erm. Prepare to cry at the stark difference. I know i know, the TW version is a few years back, but the casting of the peeps were also a little questionable now that I look back.

Btw watch out for this 2nd male lead, super comical!

장난스런 키스 (Playful Kiss)

starring my idol, Kim Hyun Joong.

I blogged about the show before and how disappointed I was because the TW version 恶作剧之吻 starring Ariel Lin and Joe Cheng was really good. The actor/actress really do match up. But here.. the female lead.. I don't really like, but after rewatching, I saw some cute parts in her though.

When I saw that vikidrama is on youtube *omg IKR!! Screammmssss* I just had to rewatch it again. Give chance lah...and I realised ....

It wasn't as bad as I thought. 

KHJ was previously criticised for being too stoned and same goes for Minho in To The Beautiful You. Both shows suffered poor ratings actually, but their popularity with overseas viewers were very different. 

am trying very hard not to mass spam KHJ pictures. *stabs hand*

Back to story, I realised that KHJ was trying his best to be the MCP character in the show and personally thought he did great when I rewatched it. Maybe it was also because I know him better as an idol now so I do imagine some of his thoughtfulness being translated into this character. Of course, he is much funnier in real life. This show is by Group 8, the very same group that brought us BOF, so in terms of the colours in the show, it is also not bad, not as grand though since KHJ is not a super rich guy in the show. 

If you have nothing to do, maybe you can try watching these two shows!!
