Karma For SMRT?

"Moving People, Enhancing Lives"

I think we have to be clear on one thing:
Circle Line broke down - 14 Dec
NS line broke down - 15 Dec
NS line broke down again - 17 Dec

To be very specific, SMRT rail system broke down three times in four days.

I was on the train in the Thursday omgofalltimesPEAKHOURbreakdown affecting 127,000 people, but I was smart (*beams self praise*) to alight from the train at Somerset when there were two bouts of blackouts. Simply because I thought the train was hijacked by terrorists LOL. No is not funny, I think even if we made it to the tunnel in time, we will still get bombed. And so I began my 2 hours trip home by 167.

I am not going to talk about how people have to do tunnel walk, or the long snaking queues for shuttle buses, buses and taxis alike. You can read all these from STOMP and Straits Times and a more credible website CNA.

Poor Communication

Until today, I don't think they (the upper managements) are convinced that the people's irritation are not stemmed from the disruptions but from the lack of information and poor crisis management. A long snaking queue for shuttle buses would probably indicate to them that the situation is under control and the crowd is manageable and not a signal to them that more buses are needed.

Just look at that guy who has no clear understanding of the situation a couple of days after the incident.
I don't know what to say but,
WAKE UP, THERE WAS NO VENTILATION. Gawd even a primary school kid would understand.

I imagined that being trapped in the tunnel is not the same fun experience I had walking through the caves in Australia. It's dark but it is certainly not cold. So even if the ventilation kicks in by some miracle, will the air be cold ? Ultimate facepalm moment.

Instead of thanking him for thinking out of the box, SMRT got pissed off over the broken window. Just look, they would levy penalties on him if the situation wasn't as such.

Why are you still following the SOP ?
1) Do not break window, ventilation will come in
2) If you break window, you will be penalised.
do you have no mind of your own?

Hiding Truths?
Those were the two separate media release from the company after the 2 breakdowns.
Apparently the HR doesn't work on weekends, I see no updates on their website. It's unsurprising perhaps, considering that they also indicated that their twitter will also only be active from Mon-Fri 9am-6pm.

I note from these 2 separate press releases that
1) They didn't say how many people were affected in the second disruption.
2) People can file a claim for refund at 81 or 68 SMRT stations. How many MRT stations do we have in all ? If people can only file for claims at 68 stations, which are those?
3) For a disruption that affected 1,400 people, 100 staff were activated, but for a disruption that affected 127,000 people, 300 staff were activated? That shows the how urgent the situation is to the corporation.

Too Late
To his credit, he shortened his holiday for us. *touched*
Or maybe it was a media tactic to make me feel this way? Okay nevermind.

Why must things happen before we establish such public inquiry?
My question is now
1) Who are these people on the inquiry board?
2) Those people on the inquiry board, what's their relationship to the government and corporation ? In order for the inquiry to be transparent, these details have to be announced.
3) Who are the experts that Lui Tuck Yew wants to consult ? His statement bewildered me, he said "We will bring in experts and relevant experts to .... (forgot the back part)". What does that mean ? We are going to pay money to some other experts who are irrelevant? Then why do we ask for their opinions for?

Why The Delay Again?
No.1 rule in Marketing : Do not over promise and under deliver.
If you are unsure when the checks can be completed, by all means take the whole day.
People will be more pissed to hear there is another delay rather than the train is down for the day.

What's this ? Desperate to recover your losses? Jeez.

Covering Up ?

I don't know about this, but I smell bullshit. Regular is debated. I exercise regularly too, about once in 6 months instead of the recommended 3 times a week. So to Health Promotion Board, my exercise regime is not regular, but to me it is.

When will these people know that it is the details that we want?
I hate Singapore for its lack of transparency and its strick adherence to protocols.
Have a fucking mind of your own please.
